Re: Picture thread

Here's my 02 R1150R, abs-ectomized last week. Pretty much stock except for the Two Brothers full titanium system.

Re: finally abs-ectomized

Wow, so I simply remove the heavy pump portion and leave on the electronic parts? Now that is something I'm willing to do... =D>

Re: finally abs-ectomized

Yes, amazing! Your article wasvery helpful. I still have to get the courage to cut the wires and wire in the relay, so i still have the dry abs pump acting as a big heavy relay  . I pulled both blue relays and all the fuses one by one but the pump still keeps making a sound. Any idea what e...

finally abs-ectomized

Did it yesterday and took the Beakster out for a long fast paced ride today. Wow, I actually prefer it now, much better feel to the front brakes :D

Re: Yuasa maintenance free on r1150r

Something just came to mind, since the Yuasa YTX20L-BS that I installed is an AGM type, can I still use my Battery Tender Jr. with it? Or do AGM batteries require a specific trickle charger?

Thanks!

Re: cylinderheads guards( any good?)

I slid my old R1100R at 50kph (oil slick at the apex) and the oem plastic guards were a mess. But although the heads were also a mess, the plastic guards probably protected it just enough from getting punctured and leaking oil, so I just picked her up and rode her home. Luckily the passenger bus beh...

Re: Aftermarket Exhaust--Yes or No?

Where I ride (Philippines), the noisier the safer, besides my flyscreen and noisy 8 year old schuberth concept one makes wind noise drown out the exhaust noise at highway speeds anyway. My Two Brothers Titanium cat eliminator round can has been on for 8 years with nary a problem. Friends call my bea...

Re: head bearing gone bad

Hi Riceburner, just grab the bars, wiggle it up and down left & right hand alternatively. If it has a lot of play, see if it plays where the mounting head mounts to under the center plastic round cover which you just pop off. You will see the wiggle or play emmanating from the bearing there. Let...

Re: head bearing gone bad

Pretty long? Not on our roads. In fact, within the same week I had mine done, there were relatively low mileage R1200RT, R1200GS, and my relatively high mileage (as I said, it's been there for a long time, but I got used to it) R1150R that had the job done. All the same part broke, KOYO 5204RS. BMW ...

Re: Throttle Rocker II

Back in 07 I went to get 2 kinds of crampbusters and a throttlerockerII, the throttlerockerI wasn't available. None of them worked for me, the long thin crampbuster was just that, too long. The shorter stubby one was just that, too fat. And my throttlerockerII would always slip out of position espec...

Re: Yuasa maintenance free on r1150r

I got my black beak with black engine option from a grey market seller back in 2002, he sold qite a lot of BMW bikes here, quite the whole range. Problem was there was nobody to service them nor any warranty. So just changed engine oil, oil filter, tranny oil, diff oil, valve job myself. Was praying...

Re: Yuasa maintenance free on r1150r

Thanks for the link Boxermania. You guys are so lucky that you can get the Yuasa agm for only $88 with shipping. But here in Philippines, $130 is already considered cheap for a motorcycle battery from a reputable brand. Must be the shipping, taxes, and corrupt customs

Yuasa maintenance free on r1150r

Since my beak was going in for abs brake and clutch bleed service 2 days ago, I decided to change my 4 year old Yuasa lead acid 51913 battery while the tank was off. Since i was getting tired of lifting the tank to refill the battery quartery, I said enough is enough, time for the BMW gel type. Got ...

Your settings are not far off my usual =D> . I initially put 40F/44R rear during installation cuz I assume this will go down when it cools off tomorrow. Will re-set it to my usual 36F/40R tomorrow morning and see if it improves things a bit. I love the way the name slides off my tongue though...Dhay...

Re: Z6 or Diablo Strada

Thanks for the push in the right direction guys. I just installed the Stradas today. I was taken by surprise as they have this tendency to wanna fall into the corners. My Z6 would also do so but in a much less manner. The Z6 would feel like a smooth banking Boeing 747, which I like. The Stradas more...

Re: Z6 or Diablo Strada

Thanks Doug, will order the Stradas today. BTW, I have the Bridgestone shop mount/balance my tires and they always inflate it with nitrogen. When I top up at the gas stations, its just air I use. Any problems with this other than more heating? Back from scuba days I remember air is 21% oxygen, 78% n...

Z6 or Diablo Strada

After 15k kms on my Metzeler Roadtec Z6, my beak needs new shoes. Available at the same price are Pirelli Diablo Strada, which look very similar to the Z6. Been very satisfied with my Z6, but would like to know if the Stradas are any better? Mileage is more importanty to me. Anyone compared them? Th...
