Re: My new 2002 BMW R1150R

Although I haven't posted for a very long time, I learned many good tech tips for my 2003 R upon buying it used. One of the first things I did was the get rid of the cable ties around the steering head area. Many years later, I noticed the black plastic sheathing that protects the wires had totally ...

Jiffy-Tite orientation?

Hi,

So I'm looking at my two Jiffy-Tite quick connects. It looks like both sides completely shut off when popped apart. Can they be situated so they only can go one way - that is the feed goes L-R, and return goes R-L so the hoses can't be connected incorrectly?

Re: Quick Disconnect's by Racer Parts Wholesale for R1150R

Mine just arrived in the mail. I ordered after reading this thread. Nice product, great service. I had one of the original L shaped plastic fuel fittings break on my 2001 fuel injected Speed Triple, and I was lucky to limp back home about six miles. Smelled fumes, and slipped going around a corner, ...

Re: Speed-shifting

Interesting thread. I've owned several air-heads, and a Guzzi Lemans, that all needed a bit of technique to shift smoothly. My R1150R benefits from a good technique from first to second, and a little bit less of the same thing from second to third. Once I'm in third, I don't seem to notice anything ...

Thanks OJ! I must have missed that thread when searching. Lots of comments on windshields out there to sift through.

Re: R1150R windshield

While the latest thread on windshields is going on, I have a question: Is there a model of aftermarket windshield that is advertised at mounting directly to the Flyscreen mounts? I thought I'd seen that somewhere in the many threads I've read here and on other sites, but now I can't seem to find it....

Re: My new toy 2002 R1150R

Is the gas in the tank nasty varnished up stuff? If so, you might have fuel pump problems. Long story short, that's how my bike was stored several years ago by the previous owner. Took it to a local indy shop, and they put new plugs and injectors in it, and it still wouldn't run correctly. He then h...

Re: First BMW Bike

Hi, First of all, I think if you put new tires on it, you then can better judge the low speed handling. It's a major departure from your DR, and will feel quite a bit different. I wouldn't worry about smelling like it's burning, oil, but you should change it if it needs it, and keep an eye on the oi...

Re: 2004 r1150r im looking at

I would say so. I just bought a 2003, R1150R with 8K, BMW cases, small BMW windshield, and a throttlemeister for $5,495 at a BMW dealer. Since that time, I've seen a lot of others for a lot more money, and more miles. I would add that I put a new battery and two Michelin Road Pilot 2 tires on it. Th...

Boosterplug = worth every penny!

Just finished up about the first 100 miles since installing a Boosterplug on my 2004 R1150R. I had to try one after reading the various good comments on them. It wasn't that my bike was that bad in the surging department. Nowhere near annoying, but I just felt there was a slight harshness around 2,8...

Re: New to BMW, and my intro

Hi, As you can see by my number of posts, I'm a short timer here. I really like the BMW sidecases as found on my 2003 R1150R. I've owned four versions of BMW sidecases, starting with the BMW Krausers in 1978, and the newest ones I've used are really good. Each set I've owned is always better than th...

New forum member, no longer lurking...

Hi everyone! I stumbled on to this forum after buying a 2003 R1150R a couple of weeks ago. I've been riding for 42 years, and have owned a '66 R50, '72 R75/5, '78 R100/7, '82R100RT, '87 K75C, and a '92R100R. My current BMW is a 2001 Dakar, of which I'll be parting with shortly. I've ridden a few fri...
