Re: R1150R top right fork leaking!
Instead of going through the hassle of changing out the seal. First try using a SEAL SAVER. It's a thin plastic blade made by MotionPro that you slide into the top of the seal and scoop out the crud that's keeping the seal open. If the seal isn't torn it should reseal itself.

Re: valve clicking or engine knocking too loud?
No answer can be had on this or any other website as it concerns what is too loud. Go to your local dealer, a bike night, or somewhere else that has a couple of R1150 engined bikes and listen to them.

Re: Laminaparawings
When I first got my 02' the windshield really buffeted me. I bought I LaminarLip. In fact, they didn't make one for the BMW touring screen so I sent them mine. A couple of weeks later I got my screen back with the Laminar lip. I tried it at various heights and felt no improvement at all. In fact a f...

I installed a Fenda Extenda on my front fender. Now, I would like to get the extendable rear fender that came with the bike. The dealer removed it before I bought the bike. Any body got one they don't won't anymore?

Re: Amber lenses
I feel the opposite. As a former water cop and merchant mariner polarized lenses are something I've worn for years while riding a motorcycle. Last year I finally bought a helmet with a tinted screen so I would not have to wear sunglasses underneath. That lasted one trip! I put on an untinted screen ...

I moved to Washington state last year and rode through the winter. I started wearing my yellow night glasses because my shield kept fogging up in the freezing temps. The difference on the those dark and gloomy days was incredible. Not only could I see better, I felt better. To quote those great Brad...

Re: 2002 R1150R gas mileage
Sounds about right. I get somewhere about 140 to 150 miles when the light comes on. Every time I check my mileage it's about 38 to 40 mpg. The furthest I've gone on one tank is 170 miles. It's funny, my old 76' R60 with it's 6 1/4 gallon tank gets about 50 mpg.

Re: 1150 issues?
The R1100 and R1150 engine was and is one of the great motorcycle engine designs. It showed the world that BMW could make a viable modern day boxer engine capable of continuing their reputation of making the worlds best mile eater. They succeeded! Many overland adventure riders have proven that. The...

Re: opinions on motorcycle roadside assistance?
Nice Timing! Yesterday I was driving my buddy's 68' Porsche 912 and the left rear caliper froze up. I am an AMA member and since I signed up for automatic renewal I get roadside assistance. I called, told them what happened, and 45 minutes later a tow truck was there. I'm proud to support such a gre...

R75/5- The big dog of the "modern" BMW. R90S- No need to explain this one. R60/6 euro -spec with disc brake- Because I have one. R69S- Again, inarguable. R80G/S- The first true adventure bike. R1100RS- The first oilhead K1- Still ahead of it's time. K75S- Because triples just sound good. R...

Re: How does the 1200 compare to the 1150?
I've never ridden a R1200R but, I have done some miles on a R1200GS. It is the bike of my dreams. I imagine the R1200R is pretty much a lower version and would be even better than the GS due to the tire/rim sizes. I love my R1150R and don't understand this complaint of too much vibration. It sounds ...

I've been interested in that Stop & Go kit but, I've had so much luck with the sticky rope ones to spend the extra money. I carry a kit I made up myself with a Wal-mart Slime brand reamer and insertion tool. I carry the good quality rope type plugs, a tube of rubber cement and a CO2 inflator fro...

26,000 miles with NO problems. I broke a quick disconnect while replacing the battery and air filter. I was in the Duffy mountains of BC in February on a logging highway in hours from anywhere and in between snow storms. My one piece of comfort was the fact I was on my R1150R. Re: Should I get an R1150R or a R1200GSA
I've had my 02'R1150R since new and love it. Last year at Bike Week I had the opportunity to ride the R1200GS and found it to be a far superior bike. I've been lusting after one since then. My brother has an 02' R1150GS Adventure that I just find scary and spindly to ride. I also have ridden 100's o...
